FHF Episode 31 - OMFG! Hiatus!

Alright everyone, calm down! Don’t go screaming away in a panic, but it’s true: we’re going on hiatus until the 7th of January. Why? Well, it’s not actually Pat’s fault (although I sure Pat would have screwed us out of more shows getting out). The reasons are simple: we want to give you a better show, a show we can be even more proud of. Not that we don’t love this show, but we think it could be so much more. We can give you more than just our mindless blathering, but an honest to god good product that you can use.

So here is our idea and new theme… we want to help you and us be better geeks. You see, we and probably most of you listeners, are geeks, but none of us knows everything about all geek topics. So we want to introduce geeks and non-geeks to topics, hobbies, and ideas maybe never before explored. We’ll give you a run down of it’s all about, useful links and books, tips, interviews, guest hosts, and whatever it takes to give you a crash course. A Geek’s Guide to , if you will. We’ll still be the same snarky hosts you love to listen to, but now we learn while we have fun! And wasn’t that just the best when you were a kid? Shut up, it was.

We’re taking this time off so we can re-tool and record a backlog of episodes to make the release schedule more Pat-proof. Is there a topic you would like to see us cover? This new show is for you as much as it is us. Let us know! In the mean time, this channel won’t be totally empty. We are going to finish up our vs. brackets and get them out and we might throw in the occasional Links and S*&%. So stay tuned for great things! Later!

FHF Episode 30 - Links Awakening

This episode is both late and short. It’s short because it’s late. It’s late because of Pat. Yeah, I know, he’s always the scapegoat, but he’s the one all busy and crap. Seeing that this episode is midweek, and another one is just a short time away, we just covered what we did the past two weeks and a whole bunch of links. FHF Brackets - Adam and Ryan Round 1

So we don’t have an episode this week because once again Pat has let us down. Something about being busy coming back to Reno but not really. Instead enjoy this supplement to FHF, our versus brackets have returned! Well, we recorded this a while ago and we wanted to get the whole thing recorded before we doled it out. But we would rather post something than go another week with nothing, so here you go! The idea is simple, we take things that are cool (or maybe not cool) and mostly geeky and see who would win in a fight. It’s not a straight popularity contest. Yes, there are tons of others out there doing something similar, but we have never exactly been all that original either. Music is courtesy of PodsafeAudio.com and Devin Anderson. The song is chopped up and we are using it without permission, so I’m sure we’re violating some terms of service, but this was a quick edit job to get this episode up, so I hope they forgive us. We think many of them suck, but that shouldn’t be surprising. All Hollywood can churn out is crap. FHF Episode 23 - Farewell Mac

This entire episode was created entirely using a Dennon Receiver. It hooked up Skype for us - the connection was flawless. It mixed the entire show down, and then uploaded it for us. While it was doing all that, it also gave me a back massage. I cannot wait to see what else this thing can do! Maybe it can replace my car; I bet it gets great mileage!

This week’s topic is what would we have in our ideal video game. Assuming some dev team with infinite money and no desire to make any of that money back asked to make a game for you, what would you tell them to make? No, seriously, I’m asking you. I finally got me new laptop! I don’t say so to brag because that means the podcast was recorded using new equipment. Let me know if you experience any quality issues, but I think this was the best quality so far in an episode. Well, except for last part, we got some lag then.

Another week, another guest star! This week it’s Rich from NYC. He’s also a long time friend, in fact, we met Lark through him. His mic is a little quiet but that’s to be expected as he is talking from so far away! (Damn, I am funny.) Pat’s connection continues to suck, but fortunately he doesn’t talk very much and sounds like a cool robot when he does! That said, this episode is pretty damn good. I haven laughed this hard at an episode for quite a while. Everyone was funny! This week we spent a lot of time on our links and news and some more E3 talk. This episode is… EPIC! We have our first guest star, Lark from Gamespot.com! He’s a long time friend of us all and makes a fine addition to the show. We discuss at length the new Transformers movie (it was great!) and the upcoming E3 show. Sadly, Lark can’t go but did provide us with insider information (no breaking of embargoes though ) This with our usual what we have been doing and cool links and news pushes this show to over 2 hours long! Damn, I told you it was Epic. [sarcasm]We even get to sound like robots thanks to our wonderful Skype connection![/sarcasm] Unfortunately, because this episode was so long, we have to put aside listener interaction until next week. FHF Episode 17 - Rule the World

This might be the longest episode we have ever done. Wow! Things start off simple enough. We talk about what we have been doing and then get into reviewing Live Free or Die Hard (which we all loved). That sets of on a long discussion. Then we get to our topic: What would we do if we ruled the world. It was good fun at first and then it got into a long discussion about fixing the legal system. We probably could have gone on for hours. As it stands, it is hopefully an interesting but lengthy discussion. Set some time for aside for this one, boys and girls (who are really boys because there aren’t any girls on the internet), it’s a hell of a ride and a good one, too.
